The CBORD Group to appear in nationally published book by CBORD author
For Immediate Release
October 22, 2002Ithaca, New York—The CBORD Group, Inc., an Ithaca-based company developing foodservice management software and auxiliary services for over 25 years, will appear in Soul of an Organization: Understanding the Values That Drive Successful Corporate Cultures, a book on corporate culture written by CBORD Client Support Manager, Rich Gallagher.
"My book’s purpose is to show how values, not business practices, drive a company’s success. After working for CBORD for over three years, I am impressed that a relatively small company in Central New York has a set of values and culture that rival many larger companies with greater resources and have contributed to over 25 years of profitability and growth," stated Gallagher.
A departure from his previous books that focus mainly on customer service, Soul of an Organization examines how core values create success in workplaces of all sizes, using examples from nearly 100 organizations including Cirque du Soleil, Dell Computer, JetBlue, Wendy's and CBORD.
"CBORD has a unique, family-style culture that we’ve been able to maintain, even as we’ve grown from 15 to 250 people. We are pleased to be featured in Rich’s book, profiled alongside other technology companies such as Dell," said John Alexander, CBORD President.
Alexander has a right to be pleased. Not only is CBORD being profiled next to Fortune 500 companies, but the culture Alexander has developed and fostered may become nationally celebrated. Readership of the book promises to be high, especially with the cover endorsement of Harry Paul, coauthor of best-selling books FISH! and FISH! Tales: "Soul of an Organization will give you the what, why and how of one of the most important business strategies for staying competitive in today's tough market, corporate culture."
This will be Gallagher’s fifth nationally published book. Gallagher is widely published in the customer service and support trade press, has appeared in major market talk radio and online interviews, and presented the keynote address at the 1998 Service News conference. Published by Dearborn Trade Publishing, the book will be released in November and available through major booksellers nationwide.
