CBORD Timeline
|
The CBORD Group, Inc. was founded in 1975 by a small group of foodservice and computer systems professionals, based on technology developed in a major university foodservice.
In 1979, a major product introduction marked CBORD's entry into the "access control" market, alongside systems using magnetic stripe ID card technology for online meal privilege verifications in college dining. CBORD's access control systems developed into generalized, campus-wide "privilege control systems," supporting privilege-eligibility and individual account management for nearly every conceivable transaction in the campus community—bookstore management, vending, banking, telecommunications, facility security, etc.
Today, this privilege control group is known as the Transaction Processing Systems Division, and it has expanded its product line into point-of-sale and product movement applications.
In 1992, the Transaction Processing Systems Division expanded its market presence even further with the introduction of the Housing Management System, designed to automate college and university housing departments' processes.
In 1988, CBORD introduced the Diet Office Management System to automate foodservice delivery in healthcare facilities. In recent years, this has become the most popular major system application in dietary management. The addition of the entire Health Department of New South Wales, Australia to CBORD's client list in 1993 occasioned the opening of the company's first major overseas office in Sydney, Australia. The Sydney office provides sales and support services to the Asia Pacific region.
In 1997, CBORD introduced Foodservice Management System for the Windows platform. This product, along with others such as EventMaster® PLUS!, Inventory Management System, various web-based products, and more make up the Foodservice Suite® (FSS).
In 1998, CBORD acquired CaterMate, a leading provider of catering solutions. In 2000, CBORD acquired GeriMenu, a provider of foodservice solutions to the long-term care market. In 2003, CBORD acquired Webfood, an online food ordering service.
In July 2005, CBORD acquired a key competitor in the college & university arena, the Card Systems Division of Diebold, Inc. Most recently, in September of the same year, CBORD acquired Student Advantage, LLC, a student discount membership business.
Early 2007 saw CBORD signing a multi-year sole source agreement with Consorta, Inc., a leading healthcare resource management and group purchasing organization, and expanding its off-campus solution set by acquiring Off-Campus Advantage.
“EventMaster is invaluable to us.”
